Last week, our GFC students visited the Bunka Research Lab for Fashion Textiles in Hachioji. Last week, we had professor @kimonosheila join us at GFC to share the history of kimono and teach us how to wear yukata. A group photo of our GFC first- and second-year students!!! A day in blue💙 We were thrilled to welcome Danielle Elsener @decodecodecode @stitcherystudio to GFC. GFC student Nicolas Girod @ninilachance is having a viewing / party for his mini TV show he developed as part of his project, with a few extra surprises. The Rebel Tartan Project is a global collaboration shaping the future of sustainable fashion. Last month and this month, MA2 student Abe Lee screened their documentary “Fashioning Ambiguity: Japanese Nonbinary Style” as part of their research on non-binary fashion in Japan. In the documentary, Abe interviewed several experts, including the co-founder of non-binary magazine IWAKAN, Andromeda, and some leading scholars in the field. We were honored to have professor Gareth Kershaw @pattern_cutting_for_menswear from RMIT who conducted a workshop on pattern and object research. His talk focused on functional garments and men’s technical archetypes.
